Congratulations to Kawaikini Public Charter School’s Kumu Mālia ʻAlohalani Kuala Rogers, who has been honored with the 2025 HSTA STACY Award for Teaching Excellence!

The STACY Award recognizes teachers who demonstrate outstanding leadership, dedication, and passion in five key areas: scholarship, teaching, advocacy, community, and youth.

Kumu ʻAlohalani has spent 30 years advancing Hawaiian language education, inspiring students and strengthening her community through her teaching and leadership. She is the Cultural Specialist at Kawaikini and is currently teaching a Kapa course, sharing the traditional art of bark cloth making with a new generation of learners. Beyond her work in the classroom, Kumu ʻAlohalani also serves as a board member for Namahana Public Charter School, set to open in August on Kauaʻi.

We celebrate Kumu ʻAlohalani for her well-deserved recognition and her lasting contributions to ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi, Hawaiian culture, and our charter school community!
